However, now I know going forward that some novels might be through an animal or animals perspectives. Because of how much I love this novel series I will continue reading novels similar to it. Has Frightful's Mountain turned you off from other books in this genre? After awhile I really became tired of listening to it, but of course the novel is titled "Frightful's Mountain" so. For, I would change the overall dominate talk about Frightful and her journeys. Yes, but in doing so it would defeat the purpose of the novel as a whole. Is there anything you would change about this book? I follow the law, and I believe in the spirit of the law and the reason for it, but this story did not need to be written. Instead we get preached at about following the law and all of those stupid intricacies of it that ruined the magic of what this began as. For the vast majority of readers of this book we will never know what it's like to have a pet falcon, the beauty and magic of My Side of the Mountain was that it gave us a glimpse into what that could have been like if having a pet falcon was something that the average person could do, living off the land, having such a perfect companion.
It takes the magic out of My Side of the Mountain, the dream of being alone in the woods with a pet falcon, and turns it into a meandering, pointless tale that should never have existed. this book also has an extremely powerful conservative angle that I don't think is justified. I'd love to know the authors justification for suddenly having cell phone technology and things like that in a book whose story originated 40 years before cell phones. It was clearly written from a very different angle and is not a good story.
It was written in 1959, this was written in 1999.
My Side of the Mountain should have remained a single book story.
